Cajuns for Bayou Teche was founded by Blake Couvillion as a grass-roots, not-for-profit organization in 2009. Based out of Arnaudville, La., this group has gained extraordinary support from Acadiana residents, local authorities and like-minded volunteers. Cajuns for Bayou Teche started its mission to restore and preserve Bayou Teche by removing debris and garbage from this historic bayou. The group of volunteers has removed literally tons of trash from the bayou. Its overall mission is to support any effort to improve Bayou Teche, promote recreation and increase water quality on this bayou. Cajuns for Bayou Teche self funded a 24’ river barge with a new outboard motor in order to make trash collection more efficient. It has recently been operating off of the kindness of volunteers and the donations of local residents, the Kiwanis de Pont Breaux and the City of Breaux Bridge.
